o my hart (holocaust remembrance day 2021)

about

this is a piano improvisation for holocaust remembrance day based on henry the 8th's 'o my hart'

O my hart and O my hart!
My hart it is so sore,
Sens I must nedys from my love depart
And know no cunse wherefore.

this piece utilises a technique for scoring for the piano where i choose a key at random to act as a 'home' key then take this as representing the letter 'a.' each subsequent letter i wish to transcribe (in this case 'o my hart') is taken from this point where each key moving right from this point represents another letter in the sequence of the alphabet (1=a, 2=b...) These notes then form the basis of an improvisation. in this piece additional notes are introduced in each movement to pull the composition further to the right of the keyboard, and to produce a deeper, richer texture. the symbolic nature of this i allow you to decide.

for this piece i used a software piano and controller as my piano is in storage.
