Tracks 1 and 2 were part of a project to document the London rivers that have been forced underground due to the growth of the city. This was intended to cover all of the main rivers but only these two pieces were ever completed.

Track 3 relates to a 19th century trend in portrait photography where a mother was swayed in cloth while holding her child. The lengths of cloth reminded me of the burkas worn by so many women and the ghostly quality of the images of the 19th century interest in spiritualism which gave many women an independent income. The voices in this piece are both the spirits communicating with the medium and the voice of women silenced (literally) by yards of heavy cloth.

Tracks 4 and 5 were to form part of an album documenting childhood memories and my relationship with my late brother Thomas (né 'Tam'). He was 37 when he died and I am in my 37th year. My brother was born before I was and I will soon be older than he ever will.

This collection of pieces is dedicated to his memory.
