for ariana grande in recognition of her desperation

about

I've been intending to write this piece for some time. It refers to newspaper stories about ariana grande suffering from depression.

to often we celebrate male artists being open regarding their mental health but when women speak about the same issues they are attacked for discussing their emotional life beyond conventional norms.

'Veldon’s groaning cycles of metallic phase are as impenetrable as they are edgeless, seeping out to fill all available space. The smothering vapour is a great analogue for the disempowering fog of mental illness, its unchanging carapace also (paradoxically) evoking an austerity regime that brooks no debate as it dismembers mental health support services. As Veldon knows, Ariana Grande isn’t alone in her desperation.'
